...Misplaced Priorities

Needed: More-Focus on the Highest Priorities

Before Whizible™ -- Matters of key importance in fulfilling the corporate strategy sometimes get eclipsed by emergencies that dominate executives' focus. John, the CEO of ABC Enterprises, wants to give each of his direct reports a fair hearing and support their initiatives, so he encourages them to propose initiatives at their weekly one-on-one meeting with him. So each new initiative tends to be considered in isolation when it first comes up. John’s VP for Marketing is quite assertive and persuasive. His Chief Information Officer is not. So the marketing initiatives tend to get a higher priority than the IT initiatives. Typically, John reviews all initiatives with his direct reports in a weekly status meeting to hear the divisional priorities. He has just a few minutes to prioritize all the new initiatives, which can be as different as apples and oranges. Sometimes, the most urgent initatives get the highest priority despite the fact that they don't contribute to the fulfillment of the corporate strategy as much as the well-planned ones do.

After Whizible™ -- Whizible Initiatives provides a structured method for analyzing the benefits and costs of initiatives across the enterprise and creating a broader base of support through the approval process. Now, as John specifies the approval workflow process for each initiative, he ensures that the divisions will engage in appropriate examination and justification before it's prioritized relative to the other existing and new initiatives. The entire approval process is readily visible in John's dashboard home page.
