Needed: More-A Clear Process for Granting Authority
Before Whizible™ -- "Who decides what?" is often an unanswered question when it comes to starting new initiatives. In absence of a clear process for granting authority, people already in authority can use their influence to decide what gets done. In this case, Engineering had several unfinished projects because no one was accountable for the decisions made to initiate them. With this accountability missing, more pet projects will find their way into the execution funnel.
After Whizible™ -- Whizible for Initiatives provides a crisp and clear definition of who decides what. Key stakeholders and decision makers are identified and setup as gatekeepers at various decision gates. Their assessments and recommendations are recorded when they approve an initiative. Multiple gatekeepers can be configured at the same gate to balance individual preferences. If Engineering had another decision maker at one of the gates who was completely business oriented, many of the projects would have been stopped early in execution cycle
